We are feeling blessed over here at Wesley Stout Associates. Last night we came home with a win from the Innovation in Design Awards (IDAs), hosted by Connecticut Cottages & Garden Magazine. Our project Q-Farms, a stunning and sustainable all organic, pastured based protein farm located in Sharon, CT, won Second Place the Landscape category.
The design vision for this project was simple and clear – “Of Farm”. As the lead consultant in the master-planning effort, and the vision in formulating an ethos complimentary to its future use and surrounding context, we at Wesley Stout Associates (WSA) were responsible for shepherding the project from concept through execution. Being a home and a working farm, rich yet unassuming details lend authenticity to a design solution that integrates traditional farm elements throughout while ministering to the needs of sensible home living. The pool court showcases dramatic vistas sitting peacefully below the terraced “wild” gardens and residence above, while sweeping meadows below (done in collaboration with Larry Weaner Associates) act as the sinew to this very special property.
Here at WSA, we believe “the client makes the project”, and in this case, a close collaboration with an engaged and sophisticated client was paramount to the success of a project of this significance. Though this project was only completed this year, its beauty already prevails. We cannot wait to see how this property develops and matures over the years to come.
